About Red Yoga
In 2024 after two decades as a teacher and student of Ashtanga, Nina Collins opened A Shala Los Angeles (Ashalala), a small yoga school on the ground floor of Red, her vintage clothing warehouse. At dawn, students would quietly filter in through the hidden back door of an unmarked building in East Hollywood. Originally, Ashalala was a space only those who knew or those seeking could find.
As the number of students grew, Nina provided more room by paring down her vintage clothing business. It seemed right to recognize this change in emphasis with a new name for the school: Red Yoga.
Today the entrance is a little easier to find and there are fewer vintage t-shirts scattered around the studio. While Ashalala and Ashtanga remains a core part of Red Yoga’s philosophy, the school is also a community dedicated to teaching traditional yoga rooted in the wisdom practices of India. We offer classes in a variety of classical and classically-inspired yoga styles, including Mysore Ashtanga, Sangraha, Hatha and Restorative, as well as lectures, meditation, chanting, and sound baths. We offer community classes, too.
Our method is old school: Learn to quiet your mind, learn to breathe and learn a little more about yourself.
